Most of my brides want to have the portraits taken before the ceremony. I find that very smart. That gives us the chance to create pictures without any stress and the couple gets some time together all by themselves without having the feeling to hurry back to the guests. But Tina & Christian had promised that we would have enough time even after the ceremony - and they were right.

Bubbles of all kind!

All those tiny bottles for the bubbles after the ceremony. I love bubbles for wedding pictures. They not only last longer than the rice but they keep your guests busy. That together makes beautiful pictures.

When you plan to have your portraits taken after the ceremony make sure your guest have enough to nibble and some other bubbly stuff in the meantime. It keeps them happy!

Singing in the rain?

It was one of those mornings when you wake up and know: "It's raining..." This was the view through the windshield of my car when I arrived in Grisslehamn to cover the wedding of Linda & Mattias.

When I arrived at the Hotel Havsbaden in Grisslehamn all their umbrellas were taken by the guests. Linda was so exited when I came to her suite and she was so much looking foreward to meet Mattias.

They were like teenagers - can you believe they have two beautiful kids?!

It had stopped raining when we left for church but the weather still was very unpredictable.

We arrived at the beautiful little church and the sun was fighting against the heavy clouds.

Linda and Mattias have their summerhouse on the island and they very much wanted to take some pictures at the beach. Fortunalely we had been talking about an eventual rain earlier and I recommended rubber boots for the rocks - as we all know it can get quite slippery.

We drove to the house of the artist Albert Engström...

...and after a few minutes we were ready to lay down on the cliffs.

The other day - when I was cleaning in my studio - I found a big, heavy envelope. Inside were two brons medals and five diplomas that I was awarded for my wedding pictures a few months ago... I participated in a competition with professional photographers from Sweden.

Maria Magdalena Church is one of Stockholm's oldest. Many famous people have their grave in it's cemitary.

When Lotta & Jonas entered Högalids church in Stockholm you could see the happiness in their eyes. And when they finally sealed their promises with a kiss, a big smile was all over their faces. I think it is still there.

The Old Town - the perfect Place for a "Vintage Lover".

Evina is a dedicated collector of vintage items and her biggest wish was to take some of the portraits in the Old Town (Gamla Stan) which was quite a challenge. Concidering that it was in the middle of the tourist season it was not easy to get pictures without them.

Södra Teatern - Perfect for a Wedding.

A Fairytale Wedding / Part 4

After the shooting of countless groups, family and friends (there were more than 100 guests!) at the waterfront we suddenly had to hurry to the stable where the reception was held, because the rain was catching up on us. Can you see the rainbow?

The people from Eventdesign had not only decorated the whole place like a castle, they even managed to build a lounge with a persian touch. A belly dancer brought some excitement between the speeches.

After the dinner Sarah changed into a breath taking eveningrobe in pink. Her entrance was spectacular and all the ladies just said WOOOW! and took a picture of this oriental princess.

Of course the cake was one of a kind too...

..and they danced and danced and danced...

...untill the morning light met the evening star. Like in a fairytale.

A Fairytale Wedding / Part 3

What an entrance! Sarah, her father and the bride's maids walked slowly from the boat to the part of the boardwalk where Nicolas was waiting for her.

Nico (not only him!) was so touched by the sight that he could no longer hold back the tears.

His best man told us all later in his speach that this was the first time ever that he - or anyone else he knew - had seen Nicolas cry!

Tears everywhere...

A simlpe platina ring from Tiffany and a little blingbling from Cartier ;-) or vice versa? Who cares - as long as it's prime quality!

Sealed with a kiss

Of course a big family needs a group picture - and this is just a tiny part of it.

And then we went to take some wedding portraits - while the dark clouds came nearer.

Isn't this a beautiful bouquet? So elegant, so simple. Sometimes less is more. Henrietta Zetterström from Flowerhouse had done a great job with all the flower arrangements.

While Sarah was on her way to the yacht that would bring her and her father to the ceremony, her bride's maids took the oportunity to take some pictures of each other.

Yes, it's fun to check right away - take another one! Instead of carrying small bouquets the bride's maids had beautiful bracelets with roses on their arms.

Just 15 minutes prior to the ceremony Nicolas got some help from his best man . Can you tell the brand of the tuxedo?

Yes! It's a Gucci...!

When the boat with Sarah and her father came nearer the bride's maids started walking on the pier to welcome them.

A Fairytale Wedding / Part 1

Sarah and Nicolas married at Krägga Hergård. This wedding was different in many ways and I will post four parts.

I arrived a little earlier to capture some details and preparations. I had the pleasure to meet Katarina from Your Wedding Agent, who was the wedding coordinator of this fairytale wedding.

The reception was held in a former stable that had gone through a total make over. The people from Eventdesign did a fabulous job! White fabric was decorated under the ceiling and the colour theme was white, gold and brown - very elegant!

Sarah's exquisit dress was hand made and had embroideries with millions of pearls and crystals all over. I can tell you - it was heavy!

Sarah chose to have her hair natural and Rabi Jallo from RabiRabi helped her to look like a princess out of "The tales from 1001 nights".

After the ceremony we all went to the waterfront of Stadshuset for a toast to the couple.

As you can see I was offered a glass of champagne directly after the ceremony - yummy!

A French Connection

Linda from Sweden and Emmanuel from France married in Österhaninge church and had their reception at Körunda Golf Club. It was one of those perfect swedish summer days and their guests from France absolutely loved the landscape south of Stockholm.

In France it's common to wear a hat or some "création" to a wedding and some of the swedish guests took the chance to increase their wardrobe. Can you tell who is french?

We were a little late for the group pictures so the girls had to run while the guys were very tempeted to give Emmanuel a bath.

They were married in Ösmo kyrka which is south of Stockholm on the way to Nynäshamn.

Pre-wedding sessions are so much fun! When Sarah and Nicolas came to our meeting they were in a hurry because they had to catch the plane back to London where they live. We had only 5 minutes for some pictures... In the beginning they were a little nervous but Sarah is such a warm and spontanous person that Nicolas just could not resist.

Workshop part 3 (and final) loooong...

To give you an idea what we did during this 2-days-seminar with Jessica Claire and Becker, I show you some more images. Here are a few more pictures (you have seen some in earlier posts) that I took in the Old Town (Gamla Stan).

Next day, after the seminar, we started at "Hötorget" (market) in the heart of the city. That was the start of several unusual locations that Becker picked.

... with an entrance to...what??? Nobody knew.

Alex could not resist and had to step into the window of the underwear boutique of Triumph. Thank you, Cissi, for not getting mad at us!

Suddenly Alex and Johanna disappeared - we found them in a Café, watching us from inside.

Just across the street is the "rulltrappa" (I have to look up the english word... which is "escalator" - thank you Nouna!) that is on these images.

We came to Stureplan - Stockholm's centre for exclusive shopping, hip nightclubs and the chic part of the city. Our models had fun doing things they usually never would do!

All of you who live in Stockholm know, that "Svampen" was and still is the perfect meeting point whenever during the day (or night). I have to admit - we had some shocked spectators who thought it was very unappropriate to place a weddingcouple under the "Mushroom".

Finally! They are in Sweden! Can you believe it? Two of the best and most creative wedding photographers on earth were in Stockholm to share their tricks and tips with us. After having followed their blog (and before that visited their websites for years) I finally got to meet them: Jessica Claire and [b]ecker from Orange County, California, USA. Thanks to Jenny Blad from Scandinavian Photo who made it possible! Here are a few pictures from both days...more is to come in a few days!

We started the workshop in the old town on an cloudy and a little chilly tuesday.

Johanna & Alex, our brave models, came to like each other more and more.

There were so many great places in the city!

Vilka bilder tycker du inte att man får missa?– Under ett reportage finns det många ögonblick man inte får missa som tillexempel: När bruden får på sig klänningen och ser sig själv för första gången som brud. Om brudparet ser varandra innan vigseln är det ett måste att fånga blicken, uttrycket och känslorna som brudgummen visar. Allt som händer i kyrkan är ”eviga” ögonblick eftersom brudparet inte kommer ihåg någonting efteråt.
– Så får man inte glömma det som händer i bänkraderna! Brudens far som får tårar i ögonen när hans dotter säger ”ja”, brudgummens mamma snyftar. Allt det är ögonblick vi vet att de kan komma. Det gäller att vara förberedd och se det som inte syns i kamerans sökare!

Hur långt i förväg bör man boka fotograf?– Boka när ni vet vigsel datumet!

Klassiska porträttbilder på enbart brudparet ska de tas före eller efter vigseln?– Där finns det olika uppfattningar bland fotografer. Jag själv tar gärna en del bilder av paret tillsammans innan vigseln. Jag älskar det magiska ögonblicket när han ser sin brud för första gången. Dessutom är det ett perfekt tillfälle för båda att träna på hur man står, går och rör sig i den ovana utstyrseln. Det lär man sig under fotograferingen samtidigt som det blir perfekta, klassiska bilder utan ris i håret, med en makeup som är fräsch och en frisyr som inte har fått sig en törn av alla kramar och kanske ev. regndroppar.

Hur gör vi om det regnar?- Tja…köp paraplyer! Allvarligt, mycket kan vi fotografer styra med men inte vädret. Jag pratar alltid med mina brudpar om en plan B.

Är det vanligt att man åker till en annan plats då?– I Stockholm finns det ett par ställen som är utomhus men skyddar från regn. Ibland finns det tid för det men oftast får man ta det som det är – och det är också charmen med att dokumentera ett bröllop.

Berätta om Secret Box – vad är det för något?– SecretBox® är brudens gåva till mannen i sitt liv! Det är sensuella, artistiska och ibland nästan förföriska fotografier av bruden i de finaste underkläderna. Det blir som en liten story och inte enbart en samling av underklädesbilder. Bilderna är i svartvitt och monteras i ett album som ligger i en exklusiv present-box. En mer personlig present kan man knappast ge till den man vill dela livet med.

Oj, vad glad jag är!
Idag fick jag ett mail av redaktionen på Allt om Bröllop där jag fick veta att besökarna på Allt om Bröllopsmässan i Stockholm och Malmö valde mig som bästa bröllopsfotograf! Så här stod det i meddelandet:

"Under Allt om Bröllopsmässan i Stockholm och Malmö avgjordes tävlingen om vem som skulle bli årets bästa Bröllopsfotograf. Av tävlingens 22 bidrag var det sex stycken som stod ut mot de övriga och kammade hem över 56 % av totalt 1347 röster. Fest i 2 dagar!

Bröllopet mellan Linda och Micke var på en fredag med familjen och dagen därpå blev det fest på Operkällaren för alla vänner och kompisar.

First Wedding of 2009!

Linda och Micke's bröllop var den 2 januari 2009.

Linda gjorde sig i ordning på hotellet där de skulle tillbringa bröllopsnatten.

Micke fick se sin brud före vigseln och båda tyckte det var skönt att ha lite tid för varandra.

Sviten hade en s.k. fransk balkong - perfekt för några bilder!

Hotel Diplomats fantastiska trapphus!

Sen var det dags att gå ut i kylan: På med kängorna!

Efter flera veckor av regn och mörker blev det nu äntligen solsken och kallt...

...och blåsigt! Det var säkert -10C grader. Men vem klagar när solen skiner från en klarblå himmel?

Efter vigseln i Matheuskyrkan i Vasastan var det middag med familjen och dagen efter blev det stor fest på Operakällaren! Några bilder därifrån kommer också snart...

Vilken succé!

Så här såg min monter ut. Vi började bygga och tapetsera kl. 12:00 och var klara kl. 16:00. Tja, det tar sin tid...

Alla ville veta mer om olika bröllopspaket och album alternativ. Det är tydligen så att årets brudpar är väldigt kvalitetsmedvetna - hellre färre timmar och färre bilder men av bästa kvalitet och med en professionell fotograf som har det där "lilla extra"!

I mina samtal med brudparen kom fram att man är beredd att betala för det - trots den "ekonomiska krisen".

Jag delade ut många presentkort för "SecretBox" som har blivit en otrolig omtyckt morgongåva till "the man 2b"

På lördag intervjuades jag av Anna Fürst, som är chefredaktör för "Allt om Bröllop".

Tack alla som hälsade på mig och som bokade mig för sitt bröllop i år och för nästa (!) år...

Eviga Ögonblick - eternal moments...

Det var Guldbagge utdelning och bästa svenska film blev "Maria Larssons eviga ögonblick". En film om en kvinna som vinner en kamera och förevigar ögonblick i sitt liv. Det slog mig att det är ju precis det jag gör.

Jag förevigar ögonblick med min kamera. Viktiga, oförglömliga, helt unika ögonblick. Även om det numera inte är med den Hasselblad kameran jag vann 2001 (och blev Årets Porträttfotograf för andra gången) så känns det ändå fantastiskt att jag får vara med om de mest oförglömliga ögonblicken.

Last wedding of 2008

This year was absolutely fantastic! I had weddings almost every week-end.

The last wedding this year was on December 20th with Aysel and Erkan, who had booked a lifestyle portrait-package. We knew it would be dark, cold, windy, rainy...you name it. Aysel was very determined: black & white and outdoor! No matter what the weather had in mind...

We met at Stadshuset, the city-hall.

We were the only people there that day. During the rest of the year it's crowded with tourists.

I was windy and the rain had no mercy.

Erkan was sweet - he tried to keep Aysel's fingers warm.

And Aysel made him laugh despite the unfriendly temperature.

They almost forgot that they were freezing...
...and they enjoyed that hour together before the big reception.

Erkan said that Aysel looked like a princess.

But even a princess would get cold feet in stilettos!

This one is my favourite of the day.

Hot feelings in a chilly Stockholm

When Andrea and Philip made plans for their November-Wedding they knew it would be cold, dark and possibly some rain. What a surprise when some snow came during the night!

Andrea's arrival to the ceremony with the snowwhite Rolls-Royce was worth a royalty.

The guys were still busy with fixing their ties and cufflinks.

Philip proudly showed me the ring he bought - a lot of bling!

Being the owner of a store specialized in wedding dresses Andrea knew exactly what would fit her best.

She wore the most glamorous veil I have ever seen!

A very important part of their ceremony were the crowns.

They received their blessed rings from a priest.

A special "thanks" to the videographer who gave me some wonderful backlight!

The hottest trend this winter: Lace!

Arriving at Operkällaren I took some very fast pictures outside the Rolls...

...and on the steps to the Rotunda. It was chilly, believe me!

I told you... it was the longest veil I've ever seen!

Having some rest before the dinner with almost 200 guests.

I just love when I can create images with real emotions from different angles.

The menus and the gifts for the guests were in perfect harmony with the colours in the Rotunda.

The first dance was right away when they entered the reception and everybody around clapped their hands.

The temperature turned hot when Philip kissed his bride and everybody shouted.

The perfect couple!

It was a real Fairytale-Wedding!

Hazelius and Yalla Yalla!!!

Hazeliussalen at the Restaurant Hasselbacken was named after the founder of Skansen, Artur Hazelius, and was the beautiful place for the reception of Nor & Per.

Autumnleaves on the tables and hundreds of small lights in branches along the walls gave the room a very warm and enchanted atmosphere.

Nor and Per just could not resist to fool around the magnificent cake...

When the belly-dancer appeared, the atmosphere went from warm to hot and the guests' "yalla yalla" could be heard over the street to Gröna Lund, Stockholms famous Tivoli!

Nor and Per had a real fairytale wedding. But even this fairytale had to have an end and I am very lucky for having been a part of it.

Nor is originally from Irak but grew up in Stockholm. She had been dreaming of having her wedding ceremony on the roof-terrasse of the Restaurant Hasselbacken.

Walking on a white carpet that was decorated with autum leaves, the couple was welcomed by the guests' "yalla yalla" and hundreds of soapbubbles.

Branches were decorated with crystals.

Bobbi Brown's tips for getting bride beautiful

Makeup guru Bobbi Brown shared the following tips for getting gorgeous on your wedding day:
1. Do a test run, on your own or with a makeup artist, and take pictures to see how you look on camera. "You might think you look okay, but you actually might look washed out," warns Brown.
2. "Make sure that your foundation matches your skin exactly," she says. Start around the nose and mouth where there's redness, then blend out to the rest of the face.
3. Set concealer and foundation with Sheer Finish loose powder to make them longer-lasting and avoid shine. "The concealer is for brightening under the eyes, and the foundation for evening out your skin," she says.
4. If your dress has an open neckline, be sure to warm up your neck and chest with a dusting of bronzing powder.
5. Your eye makeup will withstand tears if you stick to waterproof formulas. "Make sure your liner is a gel, mascara is waterproof and your eyeshadow is long-wear," she says.
6. After applying all your eye makeup, finish with a highlighter shade on your brow bone to make eyes pop. "Rub your finger in a light matte shade and pat lightly on the outer corner of the brow bone.
7. For a pretty flush that lasts, use two shades of blush. First, apply a neutral shade on the apples of cheeks, blending into the hairline, then downward to soften. Then apply a brighter shade just on the apples of cheeks.
8. Neutral and pale lip colors look washed out in photographs, so choose a lipstick that's one to two shades brighter than what you normally wear. "Not something intense," Brown says, "but maybe a few colors up." Pinks, roses and plums are great choices.

9. To make lip color last longer, line and fill in lips with a lip pencil before applying lipstick. "Put the lipstick on, then put a little more lip pencil on top, and it will stay on a long time."
10. Carry a touchup kit with concealer, pressed powder, lipstick or gloss, lip liner, tissues, mints and a mini-sewing kit (for emergency clothing fixes).

Waterfront Ceremony

Planning an open-air wedding in Sweden means to have a lot of confidence in the Weather-Gods (or who ever is responsible for it). But planning the ceremony near the waterfront is almost a challenge for them...

Everything was just so perfect and that Saturday was one of the most beautiful with an almost magic sunset - an no mosquitos!

I have to apologize to Richard - a friend of Oscar - for not letting him take more pictures with his Nikon. I'm sure you got som great stuff from behind ;-)

Johanna and Peter decided to get ready at different places...

...but they wanted to share some time before the ceremony together without any stress.

Peter was very touched when he saw Johanna for the first time.

The wedding took place at Ingarö kyrka, a very intimate chapel in the Stockholm archipelago.

Yes, I do!

Just married!

The reception was at Beatelunds Fåfänga - a beautiful place situated near to the Baltic Sea.

When the mansion was built it was very fashionable with chinese influences.

You can't help falling in love with the place!

33 beautiful girls - all in one place!

I turned arround and suddenly I had a buch of good looking assistants. And those were only the one's to my left!

While everybody had a great time...

...the "chef" was in action. The staff was from the restaurant "Fredsgatan 12", one of Stockholm's finest!

It's time for dinner.

Spanish touch in Gripsholm.

When Charlotte and LuisMi planned their wedding for 080808 they had to help the guests to find the location: Gripsholmsviken in Mariefred.

As is the tradition in Spain LuisMi welcomes the guests arriving to the church.

Here comes the bride with a very proud father...

Charlotte is not the shy type of girl - but there are moments...

As in Spain - a carriage with horses.

The weather was very exciting - wind blowing from all directions and the rain just seconds away.

They had to jump into the carriage but the rain could not stop them from having fun.

The wedding rings were specially designed and had a green diamond each - Emilia's was a little bigger...

Marcus boutoniere was very exquisite and hade the same flowers as Emilia's bouquet.

Photographing in public is fun!

It looks as if we are all alone at Stockholm Cityhall...

...and you turn around and see a bunch of happy German tourists.

No mirror? A well polished Rolls Royce will do just fine!

It really was hot on the terrasse but the location is just too beutiful to miss it - you could believe you were in Italy on the roof of a palazzo.

Exotic Ceremony at Beaver Creek

When Karolina and Kugan told me about their wedding I knew we would get some amazing images. Kugan is from Sri Lanka and contributed with the indian touch in the ceremony.

They arrived in a beautifully decorated boat to the ceremony. The scenery looked like a river in the jungle. In the boat a girl was playing the violin and the guests could not see them but hear the music come nearer and nearer.

They had a temple dancer...

...indian decorations...

...two lovebirds...

...sacred oil...

...and after the the ceremony the guests were served drinks while the couple had an enchanting moment for their own. Do I have to tell that this was like a fairytale? Everything was just so perfect - even when Kugan held a speach to honour the absent friends and he just could not fullfill it because he was so touched by the magic of the moment - even that was perfect!

I helgen var jag i Skövde och fotograferade på Karolina och Kugan's bröllop. De ville ha en del romantiska, svartvita bilder som skulle tas i en kohage.

Jag var nog aldrig så nära så många mjölkkor som i lördags - jättekul!

Ibland kom de väldigt nära...

Marte & Thomas from Norway did not care about the wind, the raindrops or the soccer game. They just had fun!
